California Reception Decor Sneak Peak

Reception in California went really well and the weather turned out great, with no rain as I had hoped. ย The decorations I spent hours putting together turned out exactly the way I’ve envisioned and I can’t wait to see the professional pictures of the details once it’s sent to me. I enjoyed the overall planning process and I feel lucky that I’ve had the chance to experience both wonderful wedding customs in both worlds. ย I feel blessed to have had wonderful friends, family and my two dogs celebrate this special day with us. ๐Ÿ™‚ More details to be updated later!

Here are some pictures that my baby cousin took with my 5dmarkIII (prof pics to come later):

Vintage Furniture Rentals

So I’m kind of obsessed with vintage furnitures, especially when displayed atย weddings. I love the distressed rustic look and even the more fancy shmancy French ballroom furnitures. ย While I do love the modern stylish furniture which I have incorporated for our home living room, I can’t wait to find timeless classics for my bedroom- especially the vanity set. I should make a separate post about this later. Anyway, back to vintage furniture at weddings:

So I visited a popular vintage furniture rental store in Orange County and picked out a bunch to have them placed on the outdoor cocktail area. It was definitely wayย pricierย than I’ve expected, but these sofas/chairs and desks were too cute to pass up! I’m also renting a typewriter, clock, and books for decorations.

Choosing the Venue: California

Korea has the fancy venues, but America has the cozy ones. the vintage ones. the fun, ourdoor beach ones. It took me a while to decide the type of theme that I wanted ย for my American reception. ย All I knew was that because Korea’s wedding would be formal, fancy and grand, I wanted my American reception to be laid back, cozy, and fun. ย I wanted the guests to enjoy the night as much as we would.ย My ultimate must-haves for my reception would be GREAT FOOD and festive atmosphere.ย

Hotels didn’t fit the laid-back theme I was looking for, but I’ve decided to check them out anyway because I’ve always wanted to hold my wedding at Beverly Hills Hotelย if I were to wed in America. It’s classy, fancy, and historic. But when I called them, I was quoted $70,000ย just for the reception alone. It may have been worth it if I’m just celebrating my wedding once, but with two weddings in the picture, I was looking more for a budget wedding that’s DIY and PIY (plan-it-yourself) inspired.ย ย Here is a picture anyway, because I just adore this historical landmark:
